The Keirsey Temperament Sorter
Draft
(Please do not distribute)
How many of you are you familiar with the Myers-Briggs
inventory? Well, the Keirsey Temperament
Sorter is a simplified Myers-Briggs.
They are both based on Jung's psychological types.
Below is a map on which you can plot where your strength
is. This is not wrong or right,
itŐs just where your preferences are.

Allow me to tell you a story about two participants in the
seminar discussed in an earlier chapter. Two members of the industrial company
were at each otherŐs throats. They happened to be brothers and the sons of the
boss, the company owner. So he
didnŐt know what to do with them, which is why he insisted on all company
personnel coming to the seminar.
Well, when the brothers took the Keirsey sorter inventory, they found out
that they were opposite types! They thought and felt and behaved differently.
One brother was a thinker, the other a feeling type. They made decisions
differently and could not appreciate the other's point of view. However, just
their being able to see this difference in preference on the above maps and because
they were both well intended, they understood at once why they had conflict.
This motivated them to look for a common language that they both could
understand. The stress of the company went away overnight. That one insight was worth the whole
seminar to them.
