Chapter 03
Note (a)
Be not judgmental
You may have noticed that the answers to the twelve CREEI
questions do not ÒjudgeÓ or ÒinterpretÓ your dream. The only purpose in
answering these twelve questions is to allow you to come back to the dream
later and begin a dialogue between your conscious self and your unconscious
self that may otherwise remain incomprehensible. The CREEI Dream Process
questions are specifically designed to PREVENT the dream from being judged or
interpreted during the initial phases of the CREEI Dream Process. This is
essential: we do not want the conscious mind -- the ego -- to begin to
contaminate or distort the real meaning of a dream generated by the unconscious
by prematurely judging or interpreting it.
For instance, some become concerned when they find
themselves answering with no or question mark many of the
CREEI dream survey questions. Remember, the initial phase of the CREEI
Dream Process is purely objective; it DOES NOT judge or interpret the dream or
the answers to the twelve questions. In fact, the CREEI Dream Process is
particularly interested in the no or question mark
answers. These are the important opportunities to turn even a traumatic
dream into a motivational or transformative form that may be life
changing.
Judgment is an important aspect of personality. However, in the initial phase of the
CREEI Dream Process, judging the dream must be suspended. The CREEI Dream Process is designed to
eliminate the tendency to judge a dream as good or bad, positive or negative,
especially at the onset. Further, there is no differentiation in the
initial CREEI Dream Process between whether the emotion or the expression
of that emotion is pleasant or unpleasant. This issue is addressed
in the next phase of the analysis process where the dream, if it is unpleasant
or unfulfilling can be transformed in a process, not unlike the heroÕs journey,
into one that is full of joy and delight. Just remember, in the initial phases of the CREEI
Dream Process, judgment is the ONLY wrong answer.
