Chapter One

Chapter 12

Benefits of Understanding the CREEI Dream Pattern

Draft (Please do not distribute)

Below is a CREEI scan of dreams of seminar participants over a period of six weeks. Most of the participants were from an industrial company. Other participants came with various backgrounds. The highlighted section shows the evolution of the dreams of Paula, an overworked and stressed housewife and mother, who also had aspirations to be a creative writer. She had come to the seminar in almost a state of desperation.

Notice how her dreams score over the six weeks. They begin with trouble but end up transformative.

Well, this woman was a typical Mormon super mom.  Having always to be perfect, doing all this, children, career, husband, church responsibilities; loaded.  And she had become exhausted – her nameŐs Paula – and she had developed a writerŐs block.  Things had stopped meaning anything to her anymore.  She was exhausted.

She asked, ŇWill this be helpful?Ó  I answered, ŇCome and see.Ó  So watch the patterns.  In those days, I had high and low instead of plus and minus.  High for plus and low for minus.  When itŐs just a dash, itŐs undetermined.  And I had some questions that were a little different.  I had B1, B2, B3, and so forth.  But they work very much the same, so donŐt worry about all that.

Notice the evolution of this thing.  "Relief" is the title of the first dream she brought.  So she felt some relief the first time she brought a dream to the group.  But then, she began to let things develop.  Notice the next week's dream title, "Stabbing a man".  Obviously there was a lot of energy inside her that needed attention.  Remember, we didnŐt judge the dream, even though the title was daunting, even intimidating. We just talked about it. I don't think she disclosed any other details this except for the title.  But you can see that it was close to traumatic and anticipatory.

Anyway, notice at the very end, a transformative dream.  You see this?  All highs.  What is it called?  "Ice cream".  It was so silly, simple--it was a nothing dream, so she thought.  When she scored it in class, I said, ŇPaula, something has been happening in your life.  When you first came, you had such and such issues and concerns.  What has been happening?Ó  And, to her amazement she realized that all her expectations, all the things that she wanted to happen at the beginning of the seminar had taken place, subtly, almost unnoticed. She wanted to be able to enjoy her life with her family again, she also wanted to be free to write again.

All those things had been met.  She was writing again.  She was having experience with her family, things began to be meaningful, it was a whole transformative experience; she hadnŐt even noticed.  The dream showed her and showed us that something had been happening to her all those weeks.  That was kind of exciting.

Take a look at the dreams of a second participant.  ItŐs the same time period in the same seminar. This person Raul, who worked for the industrial company was a former gang member.  A tough guy.  He was Hispanic and he did not want to come to this seminar any how, but he also didnŐt want to be fired since his boss had sent him as an ultimatum.  So he came, resenting every minute.

Notice the lows at the beginning. These were so low he didnŐt even want to mark them in those first weeks.  But notice the last dream and score.  He was so excited by the end of that seminar.  He insisted on writing a testimonial.  He just amazed at what happened.  His whole attitude changed over the six weeks as he began to use his dreams and make some sense out of them.  He was excited, and pleased that his boss had forced him to come to the seminar. He also became a better worker.
