Chapter One

Chapter 5

The Aspect Interview
Communication with the Dream

Draft (Please do not distribute)

Deep Listening or "Dream Yoga" is the invention of  psychotherapist Dr. Joseph Dillard.

[See www.dreamyoga.com.]  His interview technique is more powerful that the CREEI

Process in getting to deeper levels of the dream. I introduced the concept in the

workshop from which these manual chapters were taken, however it is more advanced

than one needs to master the CREEI Process. For that reason this approach is left out of

the CREEI manual and reserved for advanced students.

Deep dream listening is based on the work of Joseph Dillard.  This deep listening process is especially helpful for traumatically scored dreams.  In a traumatic dream, it is less threatening to choose a non human aspect of the dream to interview.

Questionnaire:

Date of interview: What are three fundamental life issues that you are dealing with now in your life?

Person, tell me a dream or experience you remember...

Person, why do you think that you had this dream?

If it were playing at a theater, what name would be on the marquee?

These are the characters in the dream…

If one character (or aspect if a traumatic drem) had something especially important to tell you, which would it be? (Repeat with second character, third, etc., as needed.)

Character, would you please tell me what you look like and what you are doing?

Character, what do you like most about yourself in this experience? What are your strengths?

Character, what do you dislike most about yourself? Do you have weaknesses? What?

Character, if you could change this dream in any way you wanted, would you?

If so, Character, how would you change it?

Character, if this dream were to continue, what would happen next?

Character, if you could be anywhere you wanted to be and take any form you desired, would you change? If so, how?

Character, you are in this person’s dream, correct? He/she created you, right?

Character, what aspect of this person do you represent or most closely personify?

Character, how would you score yourself 0-10, in confidence, compassion, wisdom, acceptance, peace of mind, and witnessing?

Character, how would this person’s life be different if he/she naturally scored high in all six of these qualities all the time?

Character, if you could live this person’s waking life for him/her, how would you live it differently?Character, if you could live this person’s waking life for him/her today, would you handle his/her three life issues differently? If so, how?

Character, what three life issues would you focus on if you were in charge of him/her life?

Character, in what life situations would it be most beneficial for this person to imagine that he is you and act as you would?

Character, why do you think that you are in this dream?

Person, what have you heard yourself say?

If this experience were a wake-up call from your soul, Person, what do you think it would be saying to you?
“Person, now I am going to read back to you the comments of your characters as things you are telling yourself.” (Read them back...)

Person, what can you do differently between now and our next visit to act on the recommendations of your inner wisdom?
